Inspired from Lord Hanuman’s flight story in the Ramayana listened from my mother Smt. Changunabai in my childhood, I, Mr. Appasaheb Bhimraj Dhus, a rural youth, decided to learn fly like Lord Hanuman. I realized that it was not an easy task. I found that flying in the sky might be possible after watching hangliding in the movie Yarana. My First Takeoff experience was from the terrace of my home with handmade Hang Glider made by me with the help of gunny bags in 1984 when I was in my 6th Standard. That was my first step in air adventure sports. Despite the financial problems, I completed the official paragliding basic air adventure sports training in 1999. And then I participated in National Paragliding Tournament in Pune 2000 and 2001 with old and used equipment. I requested well-wishers and the organizations for financial support for my next training of air adventure sports and equipment And with there help, I completed Para jumping training at UAE in 2008. There I achieved my First National Record in Para jump Air Adventure Sports. i.e. 12 Para Jump from an altitude of 12,000 ft. and this record is noted down in Limca Book of Records. Then I finished Powered Paragliding i.e. Paramotor basic training in Pune 2009, Powered Hang Gliding Pilot training in Kerala 2010, Para Sailing training in Pune 2012, Bungee Jumping in Himachal Pradesh 2013 and Paramotors International competition training in Thailand 2014. And achieved FAI Paramotor International Sporting License.
Then I also achieved Second National Record in Paramotor air Adventure Sport in 2016 despite the unavailability of any infrastructure of air adventure sports in our country. Noteworthy that I won one silver and two bronze medals in 9th Thailand Paramotor Kings Cup Open 2016 held in Thailand dated May 12 to 15, 2016. It is noticeable that I have become the first Indian who has won the international medals in the same. This is my First Lifetime Achievement. And also this record is noted down in Limca Book of Records.
My Second Lifetime Achievement is, I have won First Gold Medal to India in World Paramotor Championship Test Event 2017 at Pasak Jolasid Dam, Lopbhuri, Thailand dated 28th April to 07th May 2017. I have won the Gold Medal in the PL1 category of Individual Pure Economy task competing with 11 Indian Pilots and Pilots from Japan, Australia, Russia, Thailand, Qatar etc, And this record was also noted down in Limca Book of Records. After my 33 years of struggling in air adventure sports, I achieved Six National Records, Four Lifetime Achievements, Two International Bronze Medals, One International Silver Medal and One International Gold Medal in Air Adventure Sports from 1984 to 2019.
